Earlier this year the Pike and Eel Pub in Tamar Square on the Grange Estate won the Daventry Express Best Bar Award 2014.
The award represents a massive turn-around for the pub which has been going from strength to strength in improving it’s reputation and customer experience since Bev Martin took over ownership in 2012.
The Best Bar competition is all about the peoples’ choice, votes were cast by the general public and the pub achieved first place ahead of other well-known establishments such as Fridays and Chasers.
We think that the win is testament to what can happen when a community gets together to improve the area as a whole. Bev (Owner and Pint-puller) has been heavily involved in the local Grange Estate clean up events, which has helped to pull together the community and make the Pike and Eel a friendly, family, central community minded hub. On top of this Bev has made vast improvements to the bar from painting and decorating; refurbishments of the ‘bottom bar’; offering attractive drinks promotions and showing regular live sport fixtures.
If you haven’t visited the Pike and Eel in a while then we would recommend that you visit and check the pub out for yourself, you will be greeted with a friendly local vibe and be supporting a great local business. Or, if you are on Facebook then you can see what is happening at the pub on The Pike and Eel’s Facebook Page.
